For the past five years, Laura and the Wellesley Women Artisans have engaged Wellesley residents of all ages with Art in the Park, a large-scale public art installation in Simons Park (next to the main library) during Wellesley's Wonderful Weekend. The 2017 project was a message of LOVE made by decorating and collaging scrap wood and found materials. In previous years, visitors have painted recycled record albums, woven fabric onto discarded picture frames, and drawn portraits of their Wellesley neighbors. The finished art piece remains on public view for weeks after the event. Art in the Park is supported by the Wellesley Natural Resources Commission, the Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club, and Wellesley Cultural Council.
